My practice focuses on families, especially those who must
deal with disabilities, special needs, and education law at all levels. I am also able to represent clients in a
variety of legal matters beyond these areas of focus.
Do you know if you are eligible for alimony? As of September 2011, it depends on the
length of your marriage.
Are you legally ready for your college-age child to be away
at school? You might be prevented from
discussing your child's school records, and medical information away from
home. You might not be able to see or
discuss your child's financial bills – although you will certainly be invited
to pay them! I can help you avoid
difficulty with FERPA, HIPAA, and other laws which affect parents of adult
children.
Do you know what to do if your school district files a CHINS
petition for your disabled child? Do you
know what happens if you are investigated by the Department of Children and
Families? I can help you protect your
family and get the support you need in these situations.
I have particular experience negotiating divorces and
special education matters as well as many other areas of law
Deborah with her autistic son Andrew.
Mission Statement:
I always wanted to be a lawyer. My third child inspired me to finally take
the plunge and go to law school. He is a
special child and needed a strong advocate.
I enjoy advocating for individuals and children who need a champion. My practice is dedicated to helping people
who need a voice.
